Mrs. Grandma-Universal is Blue Falcon awardee
MANILA, Philippines - Babylyn Decena-Newfield (photo), recently crowned 2016 Mrs. Grandma Universal and adjudged Best in National Costume in the 2016 Mrs. Grandma Universe pageant in Bulgaria, was named one of the recipients of the 2016 Blue Falcon Award “for having rendered exceptional service in the field of tourism.”
The award is the highest recognition bestowed on outstanding alumnus of Victorino Mapa High School. Newfield was from Batch 1985 (while this correspondent was from Batch 1976). Past honorees include showbiz celebrities Esperanza “Espie” Fabon-Victorino (now an Associate Justice), Rico J. Puno and Ogie Diaz.
The award ceremony is part of Victorino Mapa High School Annual General Reunion set for tomorrow, Feb. 28, at the Fiesta Pavilion of Manila Hotel.
