Gipsy Kings at MOA Arena Oct. 30

MANILA, Philippines - Gipsy Kings, the Grammy-winning band behind the smash hit, Bamboleo, will bring its signature sound of progressive pop-oriented flamenco to Filipino audiences when it comes for a one-night concert on Oct. 30 at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena in Pasay City.

The internationally-acclaimed group of musicians’ visit to Manila comes after more than 25 years of flamenco, salsa and pop fusion perfection in the party-starting spirit of the South of France where they hailed from.

Combining deep-heated flamenco, rumba, salsa and pop that account for more than 25 million albums sold, the band will take concert-goers back to its place of origin with the exciting sound of flamenco guitars and booming Spanish vocals.

The group, composed of members of the Reyes family and Baliardo clan who have come together in a rare team-up to celebrate life and love through songs, continues a tradition that has drawn the admiration of famous fans such as Pablo Picasso, Cocteau Twins, Salvador Dali and Charlie Chaplin.

From playing on the streets of Cannes and the hedonistic heights of St. Tropez, Gipsy Kings has broken world music barriers and is one of the few groups to climb the US and world music charts.

The band was featured in films the Big Lebowski and Toy Story 3 and the hit TV series Glee, and has embraced Western musical classics by Bob Marley, the Doobie Brothers and The Eagles with globe-hopping grace, while incorporating dramatic cues from Brazilian and Caribbean cultures.

In its upcoming Manila performance, Gipsy Kings is expected to raise the roof with dance-ready frenzy by returning to its ground-breaking eponymous album and the nomadic spirit that inspired its latest compilation, Savor Flamenco, which was released in Sept. 2013 to mark its 25th anniversary.

(Gipsy Kings Live in Manila is presented by Ovation Productions. Tickets will be on sale starting today at all SM Tickets outlets and online at www.smtickets.com.)
