4 ABS-CBN entries make it to New York Festivals 2015

MANILA, Philippines - ABS-CBN was once again recognized at the prestigious New York Festivals World’s Best TV and Films 2015 with four entries making it as finalists in different categories.

Yolanda (Haiyan) was named finalist in the festival’s Cinematography category, while Spratlys: Mga Isla ng Kalayaan, Chiara Zambrano’s documentary that looks into the geopolitical issues surrounding the dispute over the islands, in the National/International Affairs category.

Also shortlisted in the festival are Wrath of Haiyan, morning news magazine program Umagang Kay Ganda’s coverage of Typhoon Yolanda in the Best Coverage of Breaking News Category, as well as ABS-CBN’s Compassion and Empathy for our Fellow Man campaign in the News Promotion category.

Last year, ABS-CBN won a silver world medal in Graphic Design: Promotion/Open & ID category for Agosto Beinte-Uno, its documentary on the assassination of Ninoy Aquino, while Failon Ngayon bagged a bronze world medal in Current Affairs category for its episode Tagas ng Minahan, which probed the environmental hazards caused by mining spills.

New York Festivals World’s Best Television & Films competition honors programming in all lengths and forms from over 50 countries. Winners will be announced during the awarding ceremony to be held in April in Las Vegas.
