MANILA, Philippines - It’s the final countdown for 88 beauty queens as preparations for the 63rd Miss Universe are underway.

The pageant’s coronation night is set on January 25 (Jan. 25, Monday morning, Manila time) in Miami, Florida.
North Cotabato native Mary Jean Lastimosa, the country’s representative to the pageant, is said to be one of the early favorites to do well in the contest, although she wil face tough competition from other front runners such as Miss Columbia, Miss USA and Miss Great Britain, among others.
