A promise fulfilled in Grand Canyon

FUNFARE - Ricky Lo - The Philippine Star

Years back when she was 21, philanthropist Pinky Pe Tobiano visited the Grand Canyon in Arizona, USA, and promised herself, “Someday, I will get married here!”

She fulfilled her promise last Oct. 28 when she exchanged “I do’s” with accountant Juancho Robles, with sponsors former Ilocos Sur Gov. Chavit Singson, Joey Antonio, former Speaker Joe de Venecia and wife Rep. Gina, among the few who witnessed the “grand” event. Pinky’s daughters Pianne and Karrel were present.

One of PeopleAsia’s People of the Year in 2007, Pinky, a chemist, heads QualiBet (“Quality is Better”), a world-class food, water, pharmaceutical and veterinary testing facility; and The Pinky Cares Foundation, which provides health seminars, consumer awareness and medical projects to strengthen the health of every Filipino.

Also a concert/record producer, Pinky was behind the concerts of Erik Santos and Markki Stroem, and released through Star Records two CDs, H.O.P.E. (Healing of Pain and Enlightenment) and H.O.P.E.: Wings of the Soul (featuring the song Kalooban Mo by Lorna Tolentino).
