Pangako Sa’yo in 2015 with KathNiel

ABS-CBN is all set to kick off 2015 with new and exciting surprises for Kapamilya TV viewers as it gives a new touch to classic love teams and stories, including the highly-anticipated Pangako Sa’yo, remake of Teen King and Queen Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo.

At the recently-held trade event titled Thank You Ang Babait Ninyo: Isang Gabi ng Pasasalamat, ABS-CBN officially introduced Daniel and Kathryn as the new generation’s Angelo Buenavista and Yna Macaspac — the two iconic roles that were first portrayed by Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa.

In an interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, Daniel and Kathryn both shared that it felt so surreal shooting the teaser for Pangako Sa’yo.

“I had goosebumps when we were shooting the exact same teaser of Pangako Sa’yo. The theme song kept on playing while we were on the set. I can’t believe that this is really happening,” he said.

For Kathryn, retelling the Angelo-Yna love story is a huge step for them as a love team because it is their most mature role to date.

“I was very happy when we saw the trailer. I can’t explain it. It’s overwhelming,” she said. “I had to adjust at first because I was not used to portraying mature characters. But when we saw the outcome, I can say that it was worth it.”

Pangako Sa’yo ran for two years since it aired in 2000. It has gained high popularity in more than 20 countries, including China, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia. Cambodian Television Network (CTN) even bought its format from ABS-CBN in 2012 and created a localized version of Pangako Sa’yo.

The Jericho-Kristine starrer also became a huge success in China where it rated second in overall local and foreign programs. Its lead actor Jericho, on the other hand, widened his fan base to include those living in Malaysia and even African countries where the show aired.

Coming as a big surprise to advertisers, Jodi Sta. Maria, who played the positive and loving character of Maya in Be Careful With My Heart, joins Kathryn and Daniel as the feisty and vengeful Amor Powers. Angelica Panganiban is set to return on television as the scheming and ambitious Claudia Buenavista.

Produced by Star Creatives, the Pangako Sa’yo remake will be helmed by its original director Rory Quintos.

Aside from KathNiel, the phenomenal love teams of Dawn Zulueta and Richard Gomez and Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin also captured the hearts of guests and advertisers with romantic duets.

Dawn and Richard will star in the family drama series Will Never Say Goodbye together with Jessy Mendiola, Sam Concepcion and JC de Vera. The “MarJo” love team, meanwhile, is set to reunite via the upcoming teleserye Flordeliza.

Adding to the exciting list of Kapamilya shows to be launched next year is the newest inspirational program Nathaniel, starring Gerald Anderson, Shaina Magdayao, Isabelle Daza, Pokwang, Coney Reyes and the newest child star Marco Masa. It will revolve around the story of Nathaniel, a baby who will become an angel destined to return on earth and comes across with his real parents.

After Pure Love, Alex Gonzaga is going to topbill her second teleserye in ABS-CBN via the TV adaptation of Pablo Gomez’s graphic novel Inday Bote. Joining Alex as her love interests are Matteo Guidicelli and Kean Cipriano.

Kapamilya teen stars Janella Salvador and Marlo Mortel are also ready to take their biggest breaks via their own TV show Oh My G! It was also announced through a teaser that Julia Barretto and Iñigo Pascual will team up for the Wansapanataym special Wish Upon A Lusis.

Meanwhile, making the celebration of the Yuletide season more special are the special musical performances of Give Love on Christmas Presents Exchange Gift lead stars Paulo Avelino and KC Concepcion, and the multi-awarded Inspirational Diva Jamie Rivera who sang the official theme song of the highly-anticipated apostolic visit of Pope Francis to the Philippines in January 2015.

As a big thank you to advertisers, ABS-CBN treated them with special production numbers led by Zanjoe Marudo, Jana Agoncillo, Beauty Gonzales, Ketchup Eusebio and Maxene Magalona of Dream Dad; Alexa Ilacad, Ella Cruz and Gimme 5 of Bagito; and Kaye Abad, Jason Abalos, Patrick Garcia and Erich Gonzales of Two Wives.

Also present in the trade event were Praybeyt Benjamin 2 cast members Vice Ganda and Richard Yap, rising teen stars Jane Oineza, Jerome Ponce, Loisa Andalio and Joshua Garcia, and some of the country’s hottest artists Ellen Adarna, Ejay Falcon, Joseph Marco, Coleen Garcia, Arci Muñoz and Jake Cuenca.

The special appreciation night for advertisers ended with a fun-filled videoke showdown of Alex, Marcelito Pomoy and Luis Manzano, followed by world-class concert performances from Martin Nievera, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Toni Gonzaga, Richard Poon and Gary Valenciano.

With the exciting line-up of programs that ABS-CBN has prepared for the year to come, indeed, it is true, “The end is only the beginning.”
