Body Talk with Ellen Adarna

FUNFARE - Ricky Lo - The Philippine Star

Big things do come in small packages. Cliché? Not when you’re talking about Ellen Adarna who, at 5’1”, has been unwittingly stealing the lion’s share of attention from her taller colleagues. An Arian (April 2), she weighs 97 lbs.; measures 33-25-33; and wears teen-sized clothes and size-6 shoes.

The good news is that Ginebra San Miguel, Inc. (GSMI) is marking its 180th anniversary with Ellen as its official calendar girl for 2015. Big deal for the petite charmer who has just recently concluded her starring role on ABS-CBN’s top-rating afternoon series Moon Of Desire and she is currently gearing up for another Kapamilya series, Pasion de Amor. Ellen is also part of the ensemble cast of Skylight Films and Quantum Films’ sex-comedy Beauty In A Bottle.

GSMI vice president and marketing manager Nelson Elises revealed why Ellen was tapped for the honor, “Ellen is arguably the hottest and sexiest young actress in the industry today. She has a very strong and loyal fan base and we are very proud to welcome her on board as our 2015 calendar girl.”

With photography by BJ Pascual, make-up by Albert Kurinawan, and styling by Liz Uy, Ellen was photographed against the backdrops of a rice field, a construction site and the beach to honor and represent farmers, construction workers, and fishermen. GSMI will honor working class Filipino men as represented by farmer Dick Alipio Evasco from Atok, Benguet; construction worker Alfredo “Ada” Abastas from Metro Manila; and fisherman Mosies Mesa from Binangonan, Rizal. These men were each given plaques of recognition, a special Ginebra San Miguel Ganado Packages, GSMI products, and a P10,000 cash prize during Ellen’s recent grand press launch.

Incidentally, since last year, a Ginebra San Miguel 180 Traveling Exhibit has been going around the country featuring the brand’s past calendar girls: Anjanette Abayari (1994), Alma Concepcion (1995), Michelle Aldana (1998), Janna Victoria (1999), Patricia Javier (2000), Geneva Cruz (2001), Rica Peralejo (2002), Aubrey Miles (2003), Belinda Bright and Maricar de Mesa (2004), Angelica Panganiban (2007), Marian Rivera (2009 and 2014), Anne Curtis (2011), Solenn Heussaff (2012) and Georgina Wilson (2013).

Any part of your body that you had to work on?

“My butt because  it has always been flat but the good thing is there’s a bit now. Before it was really not there.”

Describe the shoot.

“It was somewhere in Makati. I was asleep the whole trip to the studio. The shoot was fun and I felt like I was really in the scene because they had real plants and real sand set-up so I felt like we shot in different places even if we were just in a studio. Hahahaha!”

Do you “socially” drink? Have you tasted Ginebra?

“Social drinking is not in my vocabulary. Hahahaha! I’ve always been open about how much I can drink. And, of course, I drink Ginebra! I grew up in the province, remember? Hehehehe!”

Using only body language, how do you make a guy know that you admire him?

“I don’t know really! I usually don’t mind them because I’m too shy to flirt with those that I like.”
