Nida & Nestor in Ibong Adarna remake

While Nida Blanca and Nestor de Villa were identified with LVN romance comedy and musical movies in the ‘50s, they also starred in other film genres. One of them is the costume-adventure picture Ang Ibong Adarna (1955), written and directed by Manuel Conde. In Eastman color at a time when movies were mostly in black and white.

In 1941, Vicente Salumbides directed Ibong Adarna, also for LVN, starring Mila del Sol and Fred Cortes. The film is a literary classic.

Sharing stellar billings with Nida and Nestor in the remake of Ibong Adarna were Carlos Salazar, Cecilia Lopez, Carlos Salazar and Nita Javier. —RKC
