Nightmare foretells accident

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - ATG Productions does not intend to scare vacationists who are spending their Holy Week in the province.

But there’s nothing wrong if they take heed of the warning of Bangungot, a movie that calls to mind recent events about young students who met their tragic fate while on field trip to some tourist destinations.

This fourth outing of ATG Productions (showing in Metro Manila starting April 24), is about Bianca who is having nightmares that became real.

In her dreams, she sees blood splattered all over the road, a car crashing on the pavement and dead bodies around her. She sees a fat, horrendous-looking woman sitting on her belly, looking at her menacingly.

Bianca wakes up from her dreams and starts packing. She goes with her Kuya Gian and his barkada on a Holy Week trip to Quezon.

But on the way to their vacation, her dreams become real. Two of her companions are killed in a car accident.

Her friends start to dream about their death. Nightmares become real.

Bangungot stars Empress Schuck, Kiray, Joross Gamboa and Aleth dela Cruz. Veteran and award-winning cinematographer Jun Pereira gets his directorial break via this spine-tingling thriller written by multi-awarded writer Jerry Gracio (Muli, Mater Dolorooosa, Amor y Muerte, etc.)

ATG Productions also did Chopsuey which starred Piolo Pascual, Andrea del Rosario, Suzette Tanillo and Dimples romana. It was the directorial debut of Cathy Camarillo. The third venture came only recently after a long respite via My Amiga Girl starring Daiana Meneses, Gerald Madrid, AJ Dee, Suzette Ranillo, Michelle O’Bombshell and directed by Bong Ramos.

ATG recently wrapped up principal photography for its Cinemalaya 2013 entry in the Director’s Showcase, Amoy y Muerte, starring Althea Vega, Markki Stroem and Adrian Sebastian, megged by Ces Evangelista.
