Myrna will be missed at Binibini 50th show
When 50 aspirants strut their stuff at the 50th Bb. Pilipinas pageant on Sunday, April 14, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum (aired live by ABS-CBN, hosted by Martin Nievera and Dawn Zulueta), Myrna Panlilio, the first Bb. Pilipinas-Universe winner in 1964, will be sorely missed. Myrna died on July 16, 2009.
Six other Binibinis have, so to speak, crossed the bar, namely: 1977 Bb. Pilipinas-International Ma. Cristina Alberto, 1979 Bb. Young Pilipinas Maria Theresa Carlson, 1980 Bb. Pilipinas-Universe Chat Silayan, 1981 Bb. Pilipinas-Maja Josephine Bautista, 1993 Bb. Pilipinas-International Sheela Mae Santarin, and 2009 Bb. Pilipinas-International Melody Gersbach.
Recalled Funfare’s “other beauty expert†Celso de Guzman Caparas, “Myrna joined the 1964 Philippine Maid of Cotton contest but didn’t show up on finals night (July 3) because it coincided with the original coronation night (postponed to July 5 due to Typhoon Dading) of the first ever Bb. Pilipinas-Universe.â€
