How John wooed Bianca

Bianca Manalo sparkles as she recalls how her and John Prats’ love story started. They’re happy and are looking forward to many great years together. 

John has always been a big crush of Bianca. She was in Grade 3 and she remembers being asked who her crush was and she answered John Prats. “Mainit noon ang Ang TV. Hit na hit noon sina Patrick Garcia and John Prats. Tinanong ako at sabi ko John Prats.”

Then one day, Happy, Yipee, Yehey! (HYY) happened.  She came face to face with her childhood crush. “One week palang ang HYY noon. Nag-bonding kami. Noong nakausap ko siya, parang na feel ko na itong taong ito mapagkakatiwalaan ko.”

Bianca could not exactly remember how their romance started. But a writer of their show would always tell them to create spiels and banter like Pinky Webb and Ted Failon do — getting into each other’s nerves. What the both of them were not aware of was, their disputes on the small screen were spilling over off-screen. “We ended up na nag-aasaran sa isa’t isa.”

At that time, Bianca said, John was still going out with someone. And she didn’t want to come in between. “Ayoko ma tag na ano. Hindi ganoon ang reputasyon ko.” One time, John dropped by the studio and said he was sorry. Then Bianca guested in Vice Ganda’s show. Fans of both Bianca and John came up with photos of the both of them and once again, the “romance” issue shot up. John was apologetic. He thought of something to appease Bianca. “Pagbukas ko ng sasakyan ko, there were flowers everywhere. May bouquet pa.” She asked herself: “Nanliligaw ba  siya sa akin?”

She would not know. “There were times when he’d call me, oy di pa raw nakakakain si Melai sa Heat sa Shangri-La, ilabas ko daw siya at samahan mo ako. Then I would see Melai the next day and she’d tell me, oy sabi ni Kuya John samahan ko daw kayo mag-dinner. Sabi ko, ha? Sabi niya gusto mo daw magpalibre. Doon nag-start. Dahan, dahan.”

Deep in her heart, Bianca knew John liked her. “Pa-girl lang ako. Thankful ako kasi lahat ng gestures na ginagawa niya sa akin parang totoo ba yan?”

Bianca said that John has not changed a bit. “In fairness to him, consistent naman siya. Hindi nag-iba.”

She also revealed that she knows if John has “tampo” because “bigla na lang siya mananahimik. Parehas kami.”

John is also not the jealous type. “Sa pagkakaalam ko ha. The way I know John, I am not surprised that he is loved by the people around him. He is a real friend and he cares for his family so much.”

Bianca is hoping everything that she and John have at the moment will last forever. “Sobrang mahalaga siya sa akin.”

John celebrated his 20th year in showbiz last week. It also coincided with his birthday.

Melason no more?

How true is it that comedy couple Melai Cantiveros and Jason Francisco (photo) have parted ways? Showbiz is abuzz with rumors that Melai has called it quits. The alleged reasons: Jason is a womanizer; there is a third party to the break-up dragging the name of Kaye Abad into the fray; and Jason has ceased to be sweet and loving to Melai.

Jason tried to diffuse the rumor insisting that he and Kaye are just good friends. Kaye corroborated Jason’s statement saying she is a good friend of both Melai and Jason and from what she knows, the couple is still going strong in their relationship.

But in the showbiz Internet site darlasauler.com, Melai reiterated that she has not been talking to Jason for almost a week following a misunderstanding. No, Melai did not want to go into details but she absolved Kaye from the mess.

Melai has been teased relentlessly by her co-hosts in Banana Split where Jason used to be part of, fueling speculations of the rift between the two.

And some sources insist that Melai was the reason of Jason’s sudden resignation from Banana Split.

Melai and Jason have yet to tell us the big truth.

Vicki still protects Hayden

Another story from splitsville: Hayden Kho and Vicki Belo have called it quits. And this time, according to Vicki’s good friend Butch Francisco, it’s for real. “At this point, it’s over. It seems like she is sure. Even doctora knew it was going to come to an end.”

Vicki, Butch said, just wants to get out of everything. “She is tired and she was off it na. Kumbaga sa laro, ayaw na niya, out na siya.”

Vicki could now be in L.A., which before the Twitter fracas she would have been with Hayden for a vacation getaway. 

However, despite the split, Butch added, Vicki continues to protect Hayden. “She does not want anyone hurt.”
