GMA bags honors at Gandingan Awards

MANILA, Philippines - GMA Network stepped one notch higher as it bagged honors at the recently-concluded 2012 Gandingan Awards, the Sixth University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) Isko’t Iska’s Broadcast Choice Awards. 24 Oras, anchored by Mike Enriquez and Mel Tiangco, was awarded this year’s Best News Program.

Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho was cited as Best Magazine Program, while GMA VP for News Programs and KMJS host Jessica Soho was recognized as Best Magazine Program Host.

After winning the Best Magazine Program Host award for five consecutive years, Jessica was elevated to the Gandingan Hall of Fame Awardees, which already include the internationally-acclaimed public affairs program I-Witness (Best Documentary Program) and Howie Severino (Best Documentarist). Reporter’s Notebook was awarded as Best Investigative Program, while Jiggy Manicad was cited as Best Investigative Program Host. GMA’s pioneering Saturday afternoon show Wish Ko Lang  won Best Public Service Program. Also stamping its class was GMA News TV, powered by GMA News and Public Affairs organization, which was named as the Highly Commended TV Station.

Completing the Kapuso Network’s golden harvest in this year’s Gandingan Awards is Super Radyo DZBB 594 khz, which won as Best AM station.
