A showcase of rare gems in Pawn Stars

MANILA, Philippines- Pawn Stars, the hit series on HISTORY, brings viewers inside the doors of the well-known, family-run pawnshop in Las Vegas on Feb. 6 at 10 p.m., with all-new, back-to-back episodes showing every Monday at the same time thereafter.

Three generations of men from the Harrison family — grandfather Richard, son Rick and grandson Corey — jointly run their pawning business, with both clashing and camaraderie pervading every step of the way. The brood lives and breathes the rules of the trade, using their sharp-eyed skills to carefully assess the value of items their customers bring in.

The all-new season displays rare gems including musical instruments (a 1763 Stradivarius violin and a potentially $100,000-worth rare handmade Gibson mandolin), historical war objects, sports memorabilia, as well as interesting political souvenirs — from a letter signed by Winston Churchill, an Abraham Lincoln campaign ribbon from the 1860 presidential race, and a rare 18th century book documenting the first laws of congress.

Stakes rise as the Harrison pawning team chances upon a variety of would-be riches — there’s a 1962 mobster-style Cadillac Fleetwood limousine, a fully functional antique arcade claw machine, and a Holy Relic from first American Saint Elizabeth Seton. The boys also discover regained value in formerly high-tech gadgets, including a dangerous, fire-breathing, 31-ton mammoth Robosaurus.

Aside from their prized finds, the new season sees them meeting a host of colorful strangers who offer them odd, random rarities: a check signed by notorious mobster Carlo Gambino, two vintage pistol lighters, and a cast iron Uncle Sam coin bank from 1886, all of which might possibly possess monetary worth.

Finally, the family is faced with a computer meltdown that threatens to bring their 22-year shop to a standstill. But with Richard’s talent for assessing objects’ value with accuracy, Rick’s precise detection of fake or stolen goods, Corey’s know-how in appraisal, and Chumlee’s ability to give patrons only the best bargain, the pawning experts are more than capable of keeping their trading business alive.

HISTORY is available on SKYCable Ch 25; Cablelink Ch44; Dream Ch 30; and Destiny Cable Ch 57.
