Indie directors join MyDSL events

MANILA, Philippines - PLDT MyDSL’s Watchpad recently brought to Cebu City indie directors Brillante “Dante” Mendoza and Pepe Diokno.

The two wowed Cebuanos when they visited campuses, gave talks and workshops, and held premiere screenings of their award-winning films Kinatay (which won for Brillante the Best Director plum in the recent Cannes Film Festival) and Engkwentro (Best Director for the Venice Film Festival).

The movies are featured at the myFlicks movie central section of the PLDT MyDSL’s Watchpad, in its exclusive channel myView. They can be accessed anytime by all PLDT MyDSL subscribers. All they have to do is to register on-line and the service is free for them.

Mendoza and Diokno were joined by local talents Zyrus Desamparado and Ruel Antipuesto during the red carpet screenings, together with the Tsinelas Association, at the St. Theresa’s College, University of the Philippines Cebu, and Cebu Normal University. The workshops and campus tour was also organized by the Tsinelas Association.

The filmmakers were the cause of the celebration at the party held at Vudu bar right after the press conference at the Marcelo Fernan press center.

Mendoza and Diokno are grateful for the partnership with PLDT MyDSL Watchpad. “Now we are able to share our movies to more people and this is one step towards the realization of the dream I share with every independent filmmaker in this country,” Mendoza said.

PLDT MyDSL Watchpad is the latest innovation that allows subscribers to surf the Net and watch TV at the same time free of charge. There are several other shows to watch out for in MyView including MyMusic, MyFitness, MyStyle, MyLife, MyCampus, and MyFoursome.
