Goodbye, Kris! Hello, Kris!
After a few years of, well, “wheeling and dealing,” the ABS-CBN game show Kapamilya Deal Or No Deal (KDOND), hosted by Kris Aquino, is calling it a day with tonight’s edition with Cesar Montano and Edu Manzano (who took over from Kris as host of Pilipinas, Game Ka Na Ba?, the other ABS-CBN game show) as guest contestants.
Goodbye, Kris! It’s “no deal” from hereon.
But Kris will resurface on Monday, March 30, as host of the new ABS-CBN daily (Monday thru Friday) game show Pinoy Bingo Night which will air after Hot Shot (5:15 p.m.) and before TV Patrol World, right smack into the GMA top-rating game show Family Feud, hosted by Richard Gomez (whom I nominate here and now as the country’s Best Game Show Host, unchallenged), which is also fading out soon to be replaced by a show which might have Michael V. as host.
Hello, Kris! It’s “a deal.”
Joining Kris are Brod Pete as the “bingo caller” and Mel Feliciano as the “commissioner.” Mel was the former choreographer of the ’90s dance group Solid Gold Dancers and now the floor manager for DOND and The Singing Bee (another ABS-CBN game show hosted by Cesar Montano).
Pinoy Bingo Night is the Philippine version of America’s National Bingo Night. Some 402 studio players vie for over P2-M every night while home viewers also get a chance to win. A lucky televiewer will win an instant prize daily.
To join, you may register at http://pbn.abs-cbn.com/ or through SMS (simply key in PBN last name, first name/age/gender/address and send to 2366). Applicants may also drop their entries containing the above-mentioned information in drop boxes at the ABS-CBN compound along Mother Ignacia St., Quezon City.
Star Cinema statement on Sarah’s ‘TF’
Here’s the official statement of Star Cinema on the (non-)issue about Sarah Geronimo’s talent fee (allegedly P200,000) per film:
Star Cinema would like to clarify the issue on the talent fee received by Sarah Geronimo for the movies A Very Special Love and You Changed My Life.
Sarah is a contractual talent of Viva Films, a co-producer for the aforementioned Star Cinema projects. Her professional arrangement is similar to that of Anne Curtis for her projects When Love Begins and ‘Wag Kang Lilingon. Sarah’s and Anne’s talent fees for their individual movies were upon the recommendation of Viva Films. In Sarah’s case, Star Cinema simply adhered to and implemented her contractual agreement with Viva Films.
We honor Sarah Geronimo and Viva Films’ talent-manager relationship. Viva takes care of her talent fees and Star Cinema has nothing to do with it.
(Note: I really don’t know how much Sarah is paid per film, per concert, per advertisement, per TV show or per recording. All I can say is that it was Viva Films and Viva Records which invested not only money — to the tune of millions, I presume — but also good relationship with the media, the advertisers, and all other entities and agencies. You cannot quantify the effort, not to mention the logistics, that Viva put into the build-up of Sarah from the time she won the Star For A Night search, sponsored by Viva, to the time she became a bankable star, no doubt the reigning “queen” not only of Viva Films but also of Star Cinema/ABS-CBN. Not many people know that Sarah actually started as a child star at ABS-CBN, in the kiddie show Ang TV, appearing in a bit role in the Sarah Ang Munting Prinsesa, starring Camille Prats, before she won the SFAN contest. She was a GMA talent before she moved to ABS-CBN.)
Incidentally, Sarah will show her “other side” — her being a good cook — in this Sunday’s (March 29) edition of Us Girls (on ABS-CBN, starting at 7:30 p.m.), hosted by Iya Villania, Cheska Garcia-Kramer and Angel Aquino. Other guests include FEU Tamaraw Lady Spiker Rachel Ann Daquis and Barangay Ginebra’s Macky Escalona who will give tips on how to plan summer itineraries.
Sherilyn and Chris open wakeboard parks
Congratulations, and good luck, to Sherilyn Reyes and husband Chris Tan who are opening wakeboard parks in Mintal, Davao, in May and in Clark, Pampanga, in September. The couple, along with their son Paoie, are wakeboarding enthusiasts. Paoie will hold short wakeboarding camps for kids in his age range (10 to 13, or even younger) who want to learn the basics in wakeboarding.
The Tans are participants in the World Wakeboard Championship in Naga City.
“It’s Paoie’s first time to compete in an international wakeboard event,” said Sherilyn. “Enervon was kind enough to help us. He’s competing with nine other kids in the Boys Category (ages 10 to 13),
three of them from the Philippines. The others are from Hungary, Germany and Singapore. Paoie has been training since December last year. Chris himself, together with our friend Sung Jun Park from Korea (who is Asia’s No. 1 wakeboarder today), trained Paoie.”
