Best of Aliw at CCP

MANILA, Philippines - In the 31st Aliw Awards Foundation, the AAFI will present the largest gathering of past and present Entertainers of the Year led by Pilita Corrales in a show titled The Best of Aliw at the CCP Main Theater on March 22, 7 p.m.

The presentation, held as part of the 40th anniversary celebration of the CCP, will bring together the country’s top live entertainers performing outstanding Filipino compositions, according to AAFI president Rema Manzano.

Other Entertainers of the Year expected to perform are Ogie Alcasid, Rico J. Puno, Basil Valdez, Celeste Legaspi, Nonoy Zuñiga, Tessie Tomas and Gary Valenciano.

Lifetime Achievement Awardees Willie Nepumuceno, Ingrid Sala Santamaria, The Bayanihan Dance Co. The UN Artist for Peace Madrigal Singers and RJ Jacinto, Hall of Famers Rachelle Gerodias, Paolo Bediones, Ramon Acoymo, Ricky Davao, Miguel Aguila, Tribung Pinoy, and John Lesaca as well as Special Awardees Leo Valdez, Dulce, Jed Madela, Arnel Pineda and Jose Mari Chan will thrill the CCP audience with their talents.

Special guests Nony Libanan, Verni Varga, Ed Zialcita, Charice, Bayani Fernando, The UP Concert Chorus and Mary Ann Espina.

Host segment emcees aside from Tessie Tomas and Nepomuceno are Miriam Quiambao, Boots Anson-Roa, Baby Barredo and Ryan Agoncillo, all Aliw awardees themselves.

Directing the show is Joey Nombres, musical director is Jerry Matias.

AAFI’s officers and directors aside from Manzano are: Junne Quintana, first VP; Tess Roque, second VP; Connie Resurreccion, secretary; Jeatte Palabrica, treasurer; and Joel Manankil, PRO.

 Directors are: Lawyer Ofelia Cajigal, Jose Mari Chan, Lourdes Kempis, Brian James Lu, Joey Nombres, Angelo Padua, Col. Apolonio Reyes and Frank Rivera. Founding president is Alice Reyes and past president Leo Baluyut.
