Did Regine ‘steal’ Ogie from Michelle?

FUNFARE - Ricky Lo -

It’s the second day of June, so will Ogie “The Pogi” Alcasid keep his long-withheld promise to reveal “something” (that is, more than what he already did in his YES! magazine “confession”) this month?

Suddenly tight-lipped, Ogie hasn’t unzipped his mouth after letting off a mouthful in print, in effect sustaining the national guessing game he and his beloved Regine Velasquez have been “inflicting” on us nosey, gullible showbiz-watchers these past years.

Let’s stretch the guessing game farther and make wild guesses what Ogie (the “spokesperson” of the Affair of the Year) will still reveal (if he ever does):

1. He will announce that he and Regine will get married not this year because he still has to sort out some legalities but in the near future;

2. He will deny the rumor that Regine might be pregnant (which should make Regine’s father, the well-liked and well-loved Mang Gerry, very happy because he has been longing for an apo from Regine who turned 37 last April 22, Taurus); and

3. He will confirm the other persistent rumor that he and Regine started their affair while Michelle (van Eimeren, Ogie’s estranged wife now living in Australia with their two daughters) was still here and looking somewhere else.

Two nights ago when Ogie (with, among others, Ai-Ai delas Alas) left for the US for a month-long singing engagement, he was interviewed at the airport by Gorgy Rula of Startalk  who asked Ogie pointblank if Regine “stole” him from Michelle.

The ever-evasive Ogie who, according to Gorgy, was teary-eyed, said, “Basta walang ganun; huwag na nating banggitin pa ang mga ganyan...”

Question: Has he and Regine been living-in?

Answer: “No. Pero siempre nagkikita kami...Di ba pinupuntahan ko siya sa Bulacan...?”

Asked by Gorgy how long he and Regine have been having a relationship, Ogie said, “Matagal na matagal na,” without saying how many years.

In the next breath, Ogie insisted that he and Michelle have remained “wonderful friends,” praising her for “being such a good mom to our kids,” and that it was even Michelle who encouraged him to break his silence.

Because she has been quiet on the issue, except to also admit during the presscon for Paano Kita Iibigin (her first starrer with Piolo Pascual) that she loves Ogie “very, very much” (as if we didn’t know, since their action speaks louder than their words), Regine is being (unfairly, I should say) branded all sorts of names, from being a “home wrecker” to a “husband-stealer,” given her track record of being romantically linked to guys already spoken for (including Ariel Rivera when he was going steady with Gelli de Belen, now Ariel’s wife; and Janno Gibbs, husband of Bing Loyzaga who angrily confronted Regine).

Incidentally, a text message has been circulating, adding a bit of humor to an otherwise delicate issue which, some observers say, puts Michelle as “the aggrieved party, the victim.” This: In Hollywood, there’s Brangelina (Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie) and Tomkat (Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes). In the Philippines, there’s Ogre (Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez), Shrek now showing.

(Note: For more of Ogie Alcasid’s pre-departure interview, watch Startalk this afternoon on GMA 7, 2:30 after Eat, Bulaga! and make your own conclusions.)

The man behind Japan’s Access TV

GMA Pinoy TV, GMA 7’s international channel, continues to bridge oceans and bring Filipinos abroad closer to home, more so in Japan where GMA Pinoy TV is enjoying an increasing legion of followers, thanks to soft-spoken Koji Miyashita, head of Access TV, the local distributor and broadcast division of IPS, Inc. (International Placement Service).

“Koji has a soft spot for Filipinos,” said Aster Amoyo who’s in-charge of IPS, Inc.’s offices in the Philippines.

Koji’s love for Filipinos is evident in the various services that IPS provides.

Besides Access TV, among its other services, IPS also distributes Access Plus cards, a telecom service that enables users to get in touch with their loved ones in any part of the world; publishes a bi-monthly Filipino newspaper, Pinoy Gasette, which carries news and features to update Filipinos abroad, complete with a Job Opportunities section with a list of jobs available for OFWs; and has established a school for care-givers, the Tokyo Caregiver Academy.

“IPS also has a line of beauty products, the form of Future Labo and Health & Beauty brands, and door-to-door services,” added Aster who regularly shuttles between Manila and Tokyo. “IPS has put up its marketing arm in the Philippines, Pilipinas International Marketing Services, Inc. (PIMSI).”
