Baron Geisler’s easy way out

How time flies. A few months before I migrated to the US in early 1998, Baron Geisler was introduced as one of ABS-CBN’s teen stars. Today, he is a grown man and has made a name for himself in show business. In 2002, he even earned a Gawad Urian nomination for the movie Jologs.

Since I have moved to GMA 7 and he has remained with ABS-CBN, I don’t get to see him much, except when we bump into each other at the Belo Medical Center (usually in Tomas Morato). Baron had some procedures done by Dr. Vicki Belo lately and I got to talk to him about these.

Here’s our conversation:

Recently, you had smartlipo at the Belo Medical Center. What areas were done?

Well, I had five holes at the back, two at the hips. May isa sa gitna at dalawa sa may malapit sa armpits.

What made you decide to undergo smartlipo?

Well, there are shows where I have to look like a matinee idol. I have to look fit. Ayoko naman ng mga tatay roles. I mean di ba, parang kailangan kong ayusin. I just wanna look sexy and wear clothes that suit and fit me.

Can you tell us how it was done?

You know what, I really can’t tell you because I fell asleep. But well, malamang there’s a tube na ni-le-laser daw yung fat and then ayon pagkagising ko may tatlong jars sa side na may halong taba, tubig at dugo."

Is there pain involved there?

Well, yes, there is pain after the lipo. After the procedure the next day, it really hurt so much. I can’t even move. The discomfort is too much. I can’t sleep the usual way. I sleep on my stomach. Hindi ako makadapa. So I had to just stay put and suffer the pain."

Why didn’t you opt for the usual liposuction?

Because it’s what they call smartlipo and I guess, it’s the smarter choice. It’s the way to go. That’s why I chose this procedure; plus it’s for free.

Are you starting to see results after the procedure?

I saw it. See, can you see it yourself (showing his abs) from a size 38 to a let’s say 29 to 30.

Couldn’t you just have done it through sit-ups, crunches and cardiovascular exercises?

Well, I did this procedure because I was in a hurry. It’s like an easy way out for me because my soap will start this month. So I have no other option. Smartlipo works and I’m happy with the results.

Aren’t you too young for that procedure?

I don’t think so. I’m 23 years old already. I think 18 years old would be too young. I’m physically, mentally and psychologically prepared for the procedure. That’s why I went for it.

Not everyone – especially men – would admit to having procedures done, liposuction in particular. Why did you go public with it?

First of all, as I said earlier, it’s the easiest way out and it’s for free. And I trust Belo, I trust Tita Vicki so much.

Did you get a lot of ribbing from friends, especially male friends?

No, inggit nga sila eh.

What else do you have done at the Belo Medical Center?

Botox of the armpit, because of excessive sweating. They took off my sweat glands which worked for six months and then it rejuvenated and went back.

What is your favorite treatment there?

Right now, I could say it’s this one (referring to smartlipo) kasi nawala yung tiyan ko.

Are you planning to undergo another major procedure in the near future? What could that be?

Right now, I can’t tell. Maybe continuous facials – that’s all.
