Body Talk with Marco Alcaraz

Just because Marco Alcaraz is getting the breaks doesn’t mean that, contrary to rumors, he has some (gay?) padrinos?

"How I wish!" said Marco jokingly. "I like to think that I’m getting the breaks because I deserve them."

In his two years in showbiz, Marco has done two soaps, ABS-CBN’s It Might Be You and Kampanerang Kuba; and three movies, namely Ang Birhen ng Manaoag, the 2005 Metro Filmfest Regal Films entry Shake, Rattle & Roll 2K5 (in the Poso episode, directed by Uro dela Cruz, in which he plays a dual role) and Star Cinema’s Don’t Give Up On Us, starring Piolo Pascual and Judy Ann Santos, opening on Jan. 8 next year. He’s also in the QTV Channel 11 sitcom Ganda ng Lola Ko (with Bella Flores, Gloria Sevilla and Baby O’Brien), aired Friday nights.

A native of Cebu, Marco, 23 (July 12, 1982, a Cancerian), is the eldest of six children. He finished two years of a Communications Engineering course at University of San Carlos and moved to San Sebastian College (in Manila) where he hopes to graduate next March.

"I wanted to pursue my dream of becoming a basketball player," said Marco. "That’s why I came to Manila. I wanted to be like my idol, Dondon Hontiveros (a player also from Cebu)."

Instead, he landed in showbiz.

Told that not many basketball players turn out to be good actors, Marco said, "I don’t think so. Look at Benjie Paras. He’s a good comedian, isn’t he?"

Marco stands 6’2", weighs 180 lbs., has a 33-inch waistline and wears large-sized shirt and size 12 shoes.
