Body Talk with Cindy Kurleto

FUNFARE - Ricky Lo -
She was "burned" when she talked late last year about Jericho Rosales after their break-up (although neither of them admitted that they were "on" while their romance lasted). So, perhaps as part of her New Year’s resolution, Cindy Kurleto has vowed never to talk about Jericho again – ever?

"Nothing heavy, nothing controversial," I assured Cindy when she asked what this interview was all about. Just a harmless ‘body talk’ – you know, how you take care of your body, etc.

Like other subjects of this continuing series – all bodies-to-die-for – Cindy knows where of she speaks. She has just launched her debut instructional video called Curves - Cindy Kurleto’s Sensual Aerobics (released on VCD and DVD versions by Viva Video, P199 and P299 each respectively).

As the title suggests, Sensual Aerobics features "libidonous" dance routines designed to keep a person fit. The exercises are named after like items on a bar menu – Champagne, Pretzel, Baby Crocodile, etc.

"You must have fun while working to keep trim," reminded Cindy who has been consistently voted as one of FHM’s sexiest women. "Otherwise, it’s boring."

For Sensual Aerobics, Cindy was assisted by Fe Manalili, a certified fitness instructor, and Andy Alvis of the popular dance group Whiplash. Manalili and Alvis helped design the routines heavily influenced by New Age and eastern influences.

Cindy stands 5’7", weighs 114.5 lbs., measures 33-25-34, and wears Asian-large size shirt and size 8 shoes.

What kind of diet do you follow?

"I try not to eat at night. I try to balance everything. In fact, I eat anything and everything but in moderation. I do eat carbs, but very limited. Meat? I love eating meat!"

What kind of workout do you do?

"I work out in the gym every other day. I lift weights and do cardio exercises. I do stretching exercises everyday at home upon waking up."

Are you the active type or a couch potato?

"I’m active; I keep on moving. Even when watching TV, I march in place."

What vitamins (and/or minerals) do you take?

"Multivitamins and Ginseng extract."

How much liquid do you take a day?

"I have this bottle which I fill up twice a day. All in all, more than two liters."

Are you the type who sweats a lot?

"No, I’m not. I really have to push myself and exercise a lot for me to perspire."

Is it because you grew up in a cold country (Austria)?

"Maybe. I don’t know."

How much sleep do you get every night?

"When I’m working, only two to three hours. Otherwise, at least six hours."

Are you the late-sleeper/late-riser type?

"Yes, normally I am."

How do you cope with stress?

"I draw."

Is it stressful living alone?

"It can be stressful because you’re the only one who makes decisions. Sometimes, I ask (pieces of) advice from other people."

How do you pamper yourself? How do you relax?

"I get a two-hour massage, two hours dapat, usually at Urban Escape (along Timog Avenue, Quezon City)."

What’s your favorite hideaway?

"My bedroom. Or any province nearby where I can commune with nature. In my bedroom, I read books, I draw and I write poems. I don’t watch TV."

What part of your body is your favorite?

"My tummy. Even when I’m chubby, my tummy is still flat."

What part of a man’s body do you notice first?

"The butt. And the abs."

What part of your body is most vulnerable?

"My chest, my breasts I guess. I get intimidated when somebody comes close to me."

What part of your body do you think needs some improvement?

"My thighs. They’re big. That’s my complex. My only consolation is that Beyonce and Britney Spears also have big legs."

Are those "big legs" the reason why you haven’t joined any beauty contest?

"No naman. I’m happy that I have something in common with Beyonce and Britney."

How’s your nightlife?

"I go out for work – for MTV, you know. Otherwise, I stay home."

How’s your love life?

"Well, I’m entertaining myself."

Are you vain like most good-looking women?

"You mean I stay in front of the mirror longer than necessary? No, I don’t. In my whole house, there’s only one mirror. You know what, I believe that if you look at yourself in the mirror too long, you grow old faster."

Is that so?

"According to the superstition, ganoon daw."

How much time do you spend fixing yourself?

"Not much. I wanna look natural."

Don’t you linger in the shower/bathtub?

"Oh, I do! I love singing in the shower. I love water."

Oh, you’re aquatic! Are you sporty?

"Not really sporty but I love moving my body. I love beach sports and water sports."

A lot of women are afraid of the sun. Are you?

"Not at all. I know I should be since my derma told me to avoid the sun, but I’m not."

How often do you see your doctor?

"My derma? At least once every two weeks. Otherwise, because of the makeup I get pimples."

But other than that, you don’t have any problem with your skin, do you? Do you apply anything on your face?

"Only the soap and water that my derma gives me. I never use any cosmetics or creams because they contain perfume and I’m allergic to it."

Any other beauty secret?

"None, really. I just remember to take off my makeup as soon as I get home from work so that your skin can breathe."

What’s your outlook in life? Are you a worrier or an optimist?

"An optimist, a fighter. But I do worry sometimes that I may be making wrong decisions."

Name three guys you think have good bodies.

"Brad Pitt. Jericho Rosales. Diether Ocampo."

And three women...

"Aubrey Miles. Rica Peralejo. Angel Aquino."

Using body language, how would you make a guy know that you like/admire him?

"Kunwari I would touch him accidentally. Or I blush."
