Lino Cayetano, PTV welcome partnerships with ABS-CBN, GMA, TV5

MANILA, Philippines — A multi-channel partnership may be in development in order to assist the state-operated People's Television Network or PTV.
The network's newly-instated general manager Lino Cayetano issued a statement on his social media accounts indicating that rival media organizations ABS-CBN, GMA and Mediaquest TV5 have reached out to help the network run on local channel 4.
Cayetano said the network's board, led by chairperson Victoria C. Recio, vice chairperson Prof. Antonio Contreras and member Atty. Joji Alonso adopted a resolution authorizing him to enter partnerships with three networks to better advance PTV's mandate.
"To serve Filipinos better and remain engaged and relevant in their lives, we need multiple stakeholders at the table, working alongside the already outstanding and hardworking men and women of PTV," Cayetano added.
He ended by thanking ABS-CBN, GMA and TV5 — calling all of them "held in high esteem and trust" by Filipinos to be part of PTV's future.
"Napaka-importanteng estratehiya going into social media, transitioning into being able to reach a wider audience through different digital mediums, pero free TV is still one of — 'yung pinaka-importanteng mga corridors natin," Cayetano said in a previous interview.
Cayetano is the youngest son of former lawmaker Rene Cayetano and brother of senators Pia and Alan Cayetano.
He started out as a television director before dabbling in politics, becoming the barangay chairman of Fort Bonifacio, congressman of Taguig's lone congressional district and Taguig mayor — all one term each — before returning behind the camera.
Earlier this month President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. tapped Cayetano to succeed casting director and acting-general manager Malou Choa-Fagar.
