Promising Cebuano speed demon BJ Pepito from Daanbantayan, Cebu wows the huge crowd with his electrifying aerial moves at the finish line during the 20th Ornopia Motocross Cup last Sunday in Barangay Calambua, San Remigio north of Cebu.

CEBU, Philippines — The multi-titled Cebuano daredevil Jonjon Adlawan and the equally daring Denmark Supatan emerged as the biggest winners in the highly successful 20th Ornopia Motocross Cup last Sunday at a specially-designed racetrack of international standard in Barangay Calambua, San Remigio north of Cebu.

Adlawan grabbed two major crowns in the one-day tiff presented by MS Motosuit of Cebuano businessman-sportsman Lou Ornopia to spice up the annual fiesta celebration of Calambua in honor of their beloved patron San Vicente Ferrer.

Flashing the form that made him "Rider of the Year" in the MS Motosuit Motocross Series a few years ago, Adlawan bested Supatan and Jelo Leonardo to rule the expert category.

It was a golden double for Adlawan as he also edged Venil Abellar and Paulo Inoc to clinch the pro open title.

Supatan, on the other hand, stamped his class in the intermediate battle after outsmarting BJ Pepito and Erljun Codiñera. Codiñera though went on top snatch the novice production title after outclassing Clinton Gualiza and Joel Labasano.

The ageless Pepo Rubi stole part of the show with a twinkill in the veterans class and Executive A. Rubi rammed past Ayen Ledesma and Andrew Canlas for the veterans plum, then outlasted Jun Enriquez and Nanding Pepito to lord it over the Executive A.

The other top three executive riders were Ayen Ledesma, Shaq Gallarde, and Donkey Sanchez (B), and Ani Enriquez, Gerry Sicad and Jaime Ponce (C).

In the local enduro, Cyrill Tariman reigned supreme after prevailing over Shaq Gallarde, and Jomar Villaban. Dongkey Sanchez finished first in the open enduro ahead of Cyrill Tariman and JR Querol, John Vergel Hisoler ruled the beginners production after taming Johndy Bontuyan and Julius Santillan, while Jaime Ponce zoomed past Rex Gamallo and Gener Sicad to dominate the elite class.

The rest of the category winners were Terrence Codiñera (mini class 65), Sharlet Gallarde (mini class 85cc), Pankoy Pepito (buggy), RK Cuesta (ladies 12-under), Jomar Villaban (underbone) and Jeanette Olanda (peewee 50cc).

The action-packed spectacle was being held in partnership with F&FO motor parts, RMO motor parts, N Style, JCO motor parts, Prospeed, Motomaze, Aike MC parts, MS Apartelle, SNR MBJ Motomaze, NF Enterprises, Olilab Oil, Cebu Newstar, and Petron Oil.

It was also made possible through the support of congressman Benhur Salimbangon, provincial board member Sun Shimura, vice mayor Al Pestolante, Engr. Susan Ornopia Aroa, Diosdado Navarez, Lenley Concillado, Rowena Jubay, and Ani Navarez.(FREEMAN)
