Sibonga to host ARQ Boxing’s “Engkwentro Cinco” on May 21
CEBU, Philippines — The municipality of Sibonga in southern Cebu under the leadership of mayor Leonil Bacaltos will host the fifth sequel of “Engkwentro” boxing series slated on May 21 at the town’s Bonicafio Bacaltos Sports and Cultural Centrum.
Reigning Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) Youth light flyweight champion John Paul “Angas ng Cebu” Gabunilas (6-1, 5KOs) will headline the action-packed show presented by ARQ Promotions owned and managed by the husband-wife tandem of Jason and Eva Mari Arquisola.
The 21-year-old Gabunilas, who is coming off a spectacular first-round knockout of WBF Intercontinental minimumweight champion Clyde Azarcon, will slug it out with Jomar Caindog (11-2-1, 4KOs) of Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte in a non-title duel scheduled for 10 rounds.
In the supporting main event, the undefeated Rodex “War Machine” Piala (4-0) will gop up against Allan Alberca (11-5, 6KOs) of Manila also for 10 rounds under the super featherweight class.
In another featured match, OPBF Silver flyweight crown-holder April Jay “Astroboy” Abne (8-1, 4KOs) will go up against the veteran Arnold “Destroyer” Garde (10-12-3, 4KOs) of Davao City.
The rest of the slambang 11-bout card pits Rodel Wenceslao vs Anthony Marcial;Berland Robles vs Reymark Alicaba;Bryan James Wild vs Jason Dogelio;Ian Paul Abne vs Reynald Ewikan;Bryx Piala vs Jay-Ar Aliasot;Ramel Macado, Jr. vs Juvab Lucas;Yerroge Gura vs Vincent Bautistal;and Augusto Abne vs Briel Ozaraga.
