Salon de Rose U15 chess tourney set Feb. 17
CEBU, Philippines — A bunch of young aspiring pawnpushers will test each other’s mettle in the Salon de Rose Under 15 Chess Tournament this Sunday at the Barracks Chess Club in Robinsons Galleria Cebu.
The champion will take home P1,000 while the second to fifth placers will receive P1,000, P700, P500 and P300, respectively.
Registration fee is pegged at P150.

In another chess-related development, the Cebu Executives and Professionals Chess Association (CEPCA) under the leadership of Engr. Jerry Maratas announced that its monthly qualifying tournaments will now be held every last Sunday of the month starting on February 24, 1 p.m. at the Barracks CC.
To level the playing field, the competition will follow a handicapping format wherein the Class A players will be given a time control of three minutes only, while the Class B entries will have 15 minutes to finish each game. EBV
