Yaw-Yan fighters triumph in Zamboanga MMA event

CEBU, Philippines — Two Yaw-Yan ArDigma Cebu fighters hurdled their respective assignments in the Rizal Fight Night last Wednesday at the Perfecto C. Cebedo Cultural and Sports Center in Rizal, Zamboanga del Norte.

It was a clean sweep for the wards of Yaw-Yan ArDigma founder Master Benigno ‘Ekin’ R. Caniga Jr. in the amateur mixed martial arts event.

Featherweight Allan Albindo kept his record clean with a second round submission via rear naked choke of Donald Capa of Dapitan City.

In improving his record to 4-0, Albindo showed that he is ready to turn pro.

Also, flyweight Quinn Francis Rivera was victorious in his debut via a first round stoppage of Marvin Mapa.

Rivera fought a veteran striker in Mapa, but the latter didn’t get a chance to land solid combinations as the Yaw-Yan fighter brought the fight to the ground where he successfully sank a brutal armbar.

“I am really proud of the boys. They showed the true spirit of a Yaw-Yan fighter. Well see if they are ready to turn pro,” said Master Ekin. (FREEMAN)
