USJ-R joins Cebu Province in semis

CEBU, Philippines — University of San Jose-Recoletos spikers won their final game in the elimination round over 8X8 and at the same time sealed a spot in the semis of the Cebu City Mayor’s Cup Volleyball Open 2018 at the University of San Carlos main campus gym yesterday.

The victory didn’t come easy for the Josenians as they need five sets to beat 8X8, 25-15, 22-25, 25-21, 19-25, 20-18.

USJ-R improved its record to 3-1 to join Cebu Province in the semis for men’s bracket B. The latter finished the elimination round with a perfect 4-0 slate. Cebu Province also handed 8X8 another painful defeat, 25-21, 25-22, 25-20.

Meanwhile, CebRus didn’t break a sweat in its victory over University of Southern Philippines Foundation after the latter’s players didn’t show up.

In the men’s bracket A,  i-Connect/Southwestern University registered its third victory with a four-setter over University of Cebu, 27-25, 25-21, 25-25, 25-16.
