Montenegro shines in CDL tourney

CEBU, Philippines - Steve Montenegro emerged victorious against Jomar Amerol, 2-0, to claim the title in the Cebu Darters League the other day at the Baseline Sports and Recreation Center.

Montenegro struggled in the early part of the tournament that led him to go through the loser's bracket before arranging a duel against Amerol in the finals.

Amerol had a twice-to-beat advantage, but this didn’t stop Montenegro from claiming the crown.

Montenegro was able to forge a decider following a 2-0 win in the first game before finishing Amerol out with a 2-0 triumph spiced up with two straight 180's in the finals.

Rollie Opura copped the third place honors, while Rodmar Branzuela wound up fourth.

Jerome Perales and Odong Pamatian settled at fifth and sixth place, while Angelito Badayos and Doging Saberon completed the top eight casts. (FREEMAN)
