Barba triumphs in Boljoon bikefest
CEBU, Philippines - JR Barba reigned supreme in the 2011 Mayor Daday Celis Downhill Competition in Boljoon.
The Dumaguete City-native Barba finished the race with a personal best time of one minute and 32 seconds.
Scott Remi came in second with the time of 1:36 followed by Wendel Barba in 1:45.
Little-known Galvin Galan ended up fourth in 1:55, while Eusebio Ravanes wound up fifth with a 1:58 clocking.
Julius Amigable, on the other hand, ruled the executive class with the time of 2:01. Jonathan Verga placed second in 2:05 clocking, while Victor Bagano landed third with the time of 2:07.34.
The comebacking Gene Faelnar settled for fourth place in 2:07.69 as Bam Gacko came out fifth in 2:08.
The top five winners in the novice class were Nex Lopez (1:53), Melo Anito trailed Lopez (1:55), Dave Chiong (2 mins.), Van Chua (2:05) and Ramer Solis (2:13).
