Amonsot to risk title vs. Thai tormentor

-
Revenge is on top of Czar Amonsot's mind when the Boholano ring star from ALA Stable defends his WBO Asia Pacific super featherweight crown against the dynamite-fisted Indonesian Simson Butar Butar in another swashbuckling SGG Sports Promotions card on September 24 at the Island City Mall carpark in Tagbilaran City.

It would be no less than a heated showdown as Amonsot is gnawing his teeth to exact vengeance at Butar Butar, who is responsible for inflicting the pride of Tagbilaran City's first and only defeat, so far.

During their first meeting, Butar Butar knocked out Amonsot in the fifth round on February 15 last year at the RCTI Studio Center in Jakarta, Indonesia.

"It's going to be an exciting grudge return bout because Amonsot was knocked out by Butar Butar during their first fight held in Indonesia," said Tagbilaran City Mayor and Team ALA legal counsel Dan Neri Lim.

After losing to Butar Butar, Amonsot fought to a draw with Joey Ricardo.

Just when everybody casted doubts on his capacity, Amonsot silenced his critics by winning his next eight bouts, including an impressive eight-round KO of Victor Mausul to capture the WBO regional belt on November 20 last year at the CPG Sports Complex in Tagbilaran.

Amonsot holds a 17-1-1 (10KOs) record, while Butar Butar is not so impressive with his 7-4 ledger, but surely send shivers down the spines of all the opponents that cross his way as he flattened six of his seven victims.

Amonsot and Butar Butar emerged victorious in their previous ring appearance, although in contrasting fashion.

Amonsot have to toil hard before edging out the gritty Mexican Silverio Ortiz by unanimous decision in the undercard of Manny Pacquiao-Oscar Larios battle last July 2 at the Araneta Coliseum, while Butar Butar scored a one-round stoppage Abi Metiaman last May 19.

Expected to see action in the supporting main event is another rising ALA star in Alex John Banal, who will go up against a still undetermined opponent. The Corella, Bohol punisher is undefeated in nine fights that include one draw and seven knockouts.

"Maybe Banal will fight against a Mexican. We want him to take on a foreign opponent because we will test how really deep is his boxing capability," said Mayor Lim, the chief architect of Bohol's sudden rise to fame in the boxing circuit.
