Probe continues even after Tocmo’s burial

Romeo D. Marantal - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City police would continue the investigation on the death of Rea Mae Tocmo even she has already been buried.

The 19-year-old woman was killed and then stuffed in a cardboard box and dumped on the side of the road in sitio Mohon 1, Barangay Tisa, Cebu City.

Police Lt. Col. Janette Rafter, deputy director for operations of the Cebu City Police Office, assured that they will really try to solve the case and give justice to what happened to the victim.

According to Rafter, CCPO director, Colonel Ireneo Dalogdog, ordered to help Labangon Police Station 10 in their investigation as they formed a group made up of intelligence officers from eleven police stations of CCPO.

Rafter said that the investigation was on the “right track” based on the leads they got.

The CCPO still did not disclose the leads that they obtained so as not to affect the investigation at the same time the motive of the crime will be answered until the suspect in the case is found.

“We are getting near to it, hopefully, amo gyud ni paningkamutan pinaagi sa pagtinabangay sa tibuok personnel sa Cebu City Police Office mahuman namo ning kasoha,” said Rafter.

It was learned that the team formed by the CCPO has a different task while revealing that the results of their investigation will be used to determine the core of the case.

“Amo man gud ni gi-divide tungod sa kadako sa scope og Police Station 10 lang atong pasagdan dugay gyud kaayo mahuman then kabalo gyud ta in the resolution of the case everyday, every minute is very essential so kinahanglan gyud kay naay uban CCTV isa lang ka adlaw capacity sa memory, among gihimo ana gi-divide namo kamo nga area didto, kamo nga area diri, kamo nga area diri para magtinabangay then every now and then amo na ginatahi ang mga impormasyon nga among gikuha,” said Rafter.

The police are grateful that Tocmo’s colleagues in the boarding house are cooperative, including the establishments that the police went to for CCTV.

Rafter said that the police are cooperating with Tocmo’s family.

Dologdog earlier revealed that a person of interest is the motorcycle driver who was believed to be habal-habal that Tocmo was riding and caught on CCTV.

The said driver has not yet appeared at the CCPO and the police clarified that the “person of interest” is not yet a suspect but they are only considered to help in the investigation.

“Although naay driver pero wala pa gyud ta kabalo sa kinatibuk-ang istorya so siguro gyud amo ning paningkamutan, we are getting near to it,” said Rafter.

The CCPO did not give a time frame to solve the crime but they made sure that the crime will be solved as soon as possible. —  (FREEMAN)
