Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) from the south district of Cebu City are scheduled to receive their most awaited payout on Friday and Saturday.

South District Rep. Edu Rama said his office has coordinated with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for the distribution of benefits to at least 500 out of 5,000 beneficiaries in his district.

"Nakig-coordinate na ta sa DOLE nga makadawat na ni sa ilahang sweldo ang kapin 5,000 ka beneficiaries sa TUPAD sa atong 31 ka mga barangay sa dakbayan," said Rama.

TUPAD is a social amelioration program of the national government through DOLE that is meant to provide 10 days of work to eligible beneficiaries.

The beneficiaries were hired under the first batch of TUPAD with mobilization assistance from the district office of Rama.

The said beneficiaries were hired to do social community projects such as repair, maintenance, and/or improvement of common public facilities and infrastructures, including schools and health centers, debris clearing, de-clogging of canals, debris segregation and materials recovery, stockpiling and clearing in their respective barangays.

The first batch was the first ones to comply with the requirements set before they get their due. The distribution of payout will be done by cluster but the venue is still being finalized as of this writing.

Each of the beneficiaries will receive a minimum wage of P435/day for 10 days of work done. Rama said he is also looking at completing the payout before Christmas.

"We are aiming that all the beneficiaries will receive their payout bag-o magpasko. Atoang gituyo nga sa Disyembre ni nila madawat aron anaa sab sila'y pangpinaskohan sa ilang kaugalingon," Rama said. — FPL (FREEMAN)
