CEBU, Philippines —  The Cebu City Tourism Commission is looking at developing the city’s culinary tourism.

CCTC head, Councilor Jocelyn Pesquera, announced that this is one of the programs the city will launch this year as part of the development of tourism in the city.

After launching the Highland Pilgrimage Tour, Highland Blooms and Eco-Tourism and Chasing Waterfalls, Pesquera’s office is now targeting to further develop the culinary tourism.

In a report of Cebu City Public Information Office, the councilor pointed out that the city is also known for serving delicious foods and it has become famous even elsewhere.

One of those mentioned by Pesquera is the “siomai” of Tisa as well as “larang” of Pasil.

She added that there is also “tuslob buwa” in Barangay Suba.

"Daghang putahi nga mga lami diri sa Siyudad sa Sugbo nga atong i-promote this year,” Pesquera said.

Pesquera will also highlight the various festivals in the barangays.

There are already Puso Festival in Brgy. Inayawan, Siomai Festival in Brgy. Tisa, and Mangga Festival in Brgy. Kalunasan.

She also plans to revive the Tartanilla Festival in Brgy. Dulfo Fatima.

Pesquera said that with the many beautiful things that the city has to offer, tourists will definitely be attracted to stay here for a long time.

Other city's upcoming tourism programs are bird watching, scuba diving, and island hopping.

The government targets to have it launch before the end of the year.

The revival of the tourism industry in Cebu City is one of the ways to help revive the economy, said Pesquera.

The city government continues to promote the Highland Bloom and Ecotourism project that they have already started. These include the barangays of Busay, Tagba-o, Malubog, Sirao, among others.

It has already been reported that the waterfalls in Barangay Tagba-o is fit for canyoneering.

In addition to the beautiful falls, Cebu City’s upland areas are also home to a flower farm, mountain spots, uphill restaurants, botanical garden, resort and more. — GMR (FREEMAN)
