CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City’s quarantine facility that can accommodate more than a hundred patients is expected to rise tomorrow.

Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella and other city officials yesterday checked the ongoing construction of the quarantine building at Block 27, North Reclamation Area.

“This is more just to be prepared.  Hopefully, wala sab makagamit, way magkasakit,” said Labella.

Labella said that this quarantine facility will be used for the persons under investigation (PUI).

As of April 1, 4PM there are already 2,311 positive covid-19 cases in the country.

He said that this quarantine facility is an addition to the construction of the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) which will also be used as a quarantine area. The two floors of the hospital will be able to accommodate 200 beds.

Meanwhile, the city government has started accepting frontliners who would want to stay temporarily at a private establishment that has volunteered to house them during the state of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in the city.

Frontliners are advised to submit their request to the Office of the City Administrator at the eighth floor of the City Hall.

They are required to bring their PRC ID and hospital endorsement. This is a first come, first serve basis.

Labella earlier said these spaces are dedicated to the frontliners who are sometimes being discriminated against due to their exposure to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients.  GAN (FREEMAN)
