Three men nabbed in drug busts
CEBU, Philippines — Police have arrested three persons who yielded at least P500,000 worth of illegal drugs in two separate buy-bust operations in two barangays in Cebu City last Thursday.
The Cebu City Intelligence Branch under the leadership of Police Major Randy Caballes has conducted the first operation at Sitio Plastikan, Barangay Duljo Fatima, Cebu City at around 5:15 p.m. that day.
Nabbed in the operation was Roy Romeo Abayan, 46, a resident of the area and considered a high-value target.
Arrested along with Abayan was Mark Anthony Noquillo, 25, a resident of 140C Spolarium Street, Barangay Duljo Fatima, Cebu City.
Noquillo was considered a station-level target.
Authorities were able to confiscate from them about 60 grams of suspected shabu worth not less than P408,000.
Separate Incident
At around 6 p.m., a follow-up operation was conducted at Atillo Street, Barangay Punta Prinsesa, Cebu City, where a high-value target was arrested.
The police nabbed Wiljie G. Oliveros, 29, a resident of Sitio Laguna, Barangay Basak, Cebu City.
Seized from Oliveros was 25 grams of suspected shabu worth P170,000.
In an interview, Caballes told The FREEMAN that they have put the suspects under surveillance for two weeks before they were able to conduct the arrest.
He added that they are yet to validate the information they have received that the supplies of these suspects came from the jail.
Meanwhile, Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Director Engelbert Soriano said that the authorities of Cebu City still have several drug personalities that they are currently monitoring.
He said that they have a list of around 50 names that they have placed under surveillance and monitoring.
‘Napakarami – bago at luma. Meron kaming listed. Pare-pareho silang nag i-evolve eh. Ngayon may 50 listed tapos may bago,” Soriano said.
Soriano said they are set to conduct more operations, as they intensify their campaign against illegal drugs in the coming days.
He added that he is convinced that there are still drug syndicates that are operating within the vicinity of Cebu City and that their system is organized. GAN (FREEMAN)
