Man kills lover out of jealousy

CEBU, Philippines — Jealousy apparently drove a 26-year-old man to kill his live-in partner inside their home in Liloan town, Cebu Saturday morning, according to the police.

Eldie Cabahug Orquiza shot dead Bianca Paige Bayang, 25, a resident of Sitio Mahayahay, Barangay San Vicente, Liloan.

Bayang suffered a gunshot wound to her head, resulting in her instantaneous death.

Based on police initial investigation, the couple had a heated argument prior to the murder.

Orquiza allegedly accused Bayang of cheating.

Police Major Danilo Colipano, Liloan Police Station chief, said the neighbors heard them arguing at around 1 a.m. and heard a burst of gunfire thereafter.

But no one went out of their houses to check, said Colipano.

Bayang’s body, which was lying on the ground a few meters away from their home, was only discovered at around 5 a.m. Saturday.

Orquiza was nowhere to be found.

Authorities immediately conducted a hot pursuit operation against Orquiza. But the suspect voluntarily turned himself in to the police at around 5 p.m. on the same day.

Colipano said Orquiza has refused to talk to the authorities.

“We are still digging into the case,” said Colipano.

The firearm allegedly used by Orquiza in killing Bayang will be subjected to ballistic tests, he said. (FREEMAN)
