Sanchez returns as PDRRMO head

Lorraine L. Ecarma - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — Neil Sanchez has returned to his leadership post in the Provincial Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).

Sanchez took his oath of office yesterday as the division head for the PDRRMO. This is not his first time in service, as he was the former PDRRMO chief until 2014.

In an interview, Sanchez said that among the things he would like to reinstate is the 24/7 disaster monitoring by the PDRRMO. This operation was first introduced in the PDRRMO under his previous administration. According to him, it was discontinued by the following administration.

“Naputol na siya ron. Ato na siyang ibalik,” he said.

Sanchez also added that he plans on adding human-induced incidents to the monitoring operations. This monitoring scheme will be implemented by next week.

As of the moment, Sanchez said he is yet to review the operations of the previous administration, as his focus is currently on the measures to be taken for the looming Typhoon Tisoy.

He added, however, that he is open to sustaining effective practices carried out by the previous administration.

“I have to review what the previous administration did as far as the office is concerned. If there are measures or there are practices na worth keeping or worth sustaining then why not. But if there are measures that we have to improve or we have to do away with then let’s do that also,” Sanchez said.

Bernard Calderon, who has been performed as the OIC for the Provincial General Services Office, has also taken oath as PGSO Head at the same time as Sanchez.  GAN (FREEMAN)
