CEBU, Philippines —  A 57-year-old British tourist was found dead floating across the seas of Barangay Balod, Dalaguete town, southern Cebu last Tuesday afternoon.

He was identified as Ian Parkinson who went out to explore a fish sanctuary about 700 meters away from the seashore together with a friend, Howard Philip, 63.

According to Police Master Sergeant Arnold Frenal of Dalaguete Police Station, a fisherman saw his body floating and immediately asked for help.

Several cops and other residents helped bring Parkinson’s body to the shoreline.

Frenal said that Parkinson was rushed to Alcantara provincial hospital where he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Based on the latest investigation, Parkinson and Philip were snorkeling at around 9 a.m. but Philip left after an hour.

Frenal said that Philip only knew that Parkinson had died at around 2:20 pm.

He said that they will be requesting for an autopsy to check if there was no foul play. — MBG (FREEMAN)
