CEBU, Philippines – A Mandaue City-based company has donated over P5 million worth of security cameras to Barangay Apas in Cebu City.

7Core Communications Incorporated turned over yesterday 16 units of closed-circuit television cameras to Barangay Captain Ramil Ayuman.

Cloyd Dedicaturia, representative of 7Core Communications, said the donation is worth P5.8 million. The barangay only paid P800,000 to cover the installation cost.

"It's a P5.8 million project. Among arrangement is, P5.8 million (is the cost) and you (Barangay Apas officials) pay the P800,000 for the labor and amo'ng the rest," said Dedicaturia.

The CCTV cameras also come with a video server.

"It's not only security cameras. It has a GPS system, a communication system like an IP telecommunication company system. Makatawag ka using a laptop or a smart phone radio," he said.

Dedicaturia said his company wants to give back to the community as part of its social responsibility.

"I'm very active on ICT industry and of course, ICT industry had been focused on IT Park… IT Park is part of Barangay Apas so dapat lang gyud ang Barangay Apas would be at par to IT Park. Mao na ang akong belief as one of the visionaries on IT industry to give back to where I belong ug asa ko nagsugod," he said.

He said the technology is needed in emergency response and CCTV cameras would be of great help to monitor the day-to-day activities in the barangay.

Ayuman was thankful to the company and was looking forward to having a noble partnership.

"Ang nakanindot kay advantage sa barangay. Kun bayran ni it's worth  P5.8 million pero ni bayad lang ang barangay og P800,000. Installment basis pa gyud. First year nihatag mi og P400,000 and next year mohatag mi og P400,000," he said, adding that the appropriation of funds was approved by the barangay council.

Eight of the CCTV cameras were installed at Camp Lapu-Lapu Elementary School. The school principal was thankful for the CCTV cameras as he believes it would help solve the problems within the school campus like theft.

"Kaning CCTV importante kaayo ni. This will help solve problems in school. Problems nga related to incidents involving human activities like for example kanang kawat, or quarrel between pupils. Makita nato asa dapita ang cause ba," said Ronnie Joseph Gonzales, the school principal. —/FPL (FREEMAN)
