Sogod projects from Gwen not implemented – vice mayor

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Sogod town Vice Mayor Nicasio “Nick” Bacayo is now looking where are some of the projects given by the Provincial Government during the time of suspended Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia.

Bacayo, the mayoral candidate of One Cebu, questioned why some of the projects were not delivered directly to the people, including the Bugasan sa Kababayen-an program and the municipal hall, which was given funding for its completion, has not yet been completed up to this time.

“Usa man ko sa nipirma sa mga financial assistance nga amo gi-request ni Gov. Gwen. Asa naman diay ang gihatag ni Gov. Gwen karon? Magmata na kita tanang taga-Sogod,” Bacayo said before their purok leaders. (I was one of those who signed the requests for financial aid, and where are these now? It is time for all of us to wake up.)

The funds for these projects were downloaded by the Capitol to the local government unit of Sogod and was received by Mayor Lissa Marie “Monyeen” Estreegan.

One Cebu gubernatorial candidate, third district Rep. Pablo John “PJ” Garcia, recently visited Sogod upon the invitation of Bacayo to show their full support “to the next governor of the province.”

“Karon nang panahona nga suportahan nato ang One Cebu para makuha nato ang kagawasan ug makita nato ang tinuoray nga kalambuan dinhi sa lungsod sa Sogod,” Bacayo said. (We must support One Cebu so we can achieve true freedom and progress.)

Purok leaders were pleased that PJ Garcia visited their town.

“Nalipay kaayo mi nga nibisita gyud siya dinhi sa among lungsod,” said Rosina Agosto, a purok leader from Barangay Kalumbuyan. (We are happy he visited us.)

PJ said that they visited the different towns to know the real situation of the LGUs.

“Mibisita sad mi dinhi sa Sogod para sa pagpaila kaninyo ug para makita gyud nato kung unsa pa ang inyong gikinahanglan nga mga serbisyo,” PJ Garcia said. (We are here to introduce ourselves to you, and so that we will know first hand what your needs are.)

Today, PJ Garcia is set for a three-day visit in the towns of Camotes Island, also in the fifth district where Sogod is part of. He will be joined by her sister, Gov. Garcia during his visit in the towns of Poro, Tudela, San Francisco and Pilar.

Last week, some Camotes Island mayors who are former allies of the Garcias declared full support to the candidates of the Liberal Party. (FREEMAN)
