CEBU, Philippines - A 12-year-old girl is believed to have been made a sex slave by her stepfather every time her mother was away and working in Barangay Talaytay, Argao.
The girl, who could no longer bear the suffering from her stepfather’s hands, only had the courage to inform her aunt last Saturday morning. It was her aunt who then reported the incident to the police station.
Police immediately conducted a hot pursuit operation but the suspect eluded arrest.
A policeman, who refused to be named, said the suspect allegedly molested the girl every time the mother went to work.
It was only the suspect, the girl and her other siblings who were always left in the house.
The policeman added that the girl once informed her mother of the incident but the mother reportedly refused to believe her.
“Dugay na kuno ni siya gihilabtan pero dili lang mutuo ang mama maong didto na siya nisumbong sa iyang iyaan, (The suspect has allegedly been raping the girl for quite some but her mother wouldn’t believe her so she told her aunt.)” he said.
The suspect even threatened the girl not to tell anyone or else the suspect would kill the victim’s mother and her siblings.
The cop suspected that it was early morning last Saturday when the suspect reportedly molested the girl again.
Naghilak pa gud nang bata anang buntag sayo nga nisumbong sa iyaan, (The child was crying when she told her aunt that morning.)” he said.
The girl is now in the custody of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office for a stress debriefing.
She was also taken to the pink room of the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City for medical examination.
Police are set to file today a case for rape against the suspect at the Cebu Provincial Prosecutor’s Office. —/MIT (FREEMAN)
