Ex-cop and pal arrested for shoplifting in mall

CEBU, Philippines - A former member of the Philippine National Police and his friend, were arrested for shoplifting P38,973 worth of items inside a mall last Thursday noon in downtown Cebu City.

Jobie Libradilla Antipolo, 30, of barangay Pansil, Barili town, a former policeman and his companion, Roy Abanilla Pansica, 29, of Barangay Tabok, Mandaue City, were arrested by a mall detective Marlon Dennis Cabarrubias after they were intercepted carrying a bag filled with items stolen from the mall.

Cabarrubias said they recovered a doorknob worth P1,199; six handy locks worth P1,698 each; and other locks with a total cost of P36,076.

Recovered from Antipolo were a .45 cal. Armscor pistol, a magazine and live rounds, said Cabarrubias.

Cabarrubias then brought Antipolo and Pansica to the Waterfront Police Station where they are currently detained.

Antipolo was previously assigned at Cebu Provincial Police Office with the rank of police officer 1 but was later transferred to Bohol Provincial Police Office.

He reportedly stopped reporting to work for an undetermined reason and was eventually marked Absent without Official Leave.

Antipolo will face charges of illegal possession of unlicensed firearm while Pansica will also face charges of theft. (FREEMAN)
