High-powered guns seized; 2 men arrested

- Ria Mae Y. Booc -

CEBU, Philippines - Several high-powered loose firearms were seized from two gun makers in Barangay Looc, Danao City Thursday afternoon in an entrapment operation conducted by the Provincial Intelligence Branch and the Danao City Police Station.

Operatives were able to recover three KG-9 machine pistols with two empty magazines each, nine caliber .45 pistols with one empty magazine each and a suppressor of the KG-9 pistol in the possession of Jonathan Pasaol, 50 and Jerry Roca, 43.

Both are now temporarily detained at the Danao City police stockade and will be facing charges for illegal possession of firearms.

Superintendent Rodolfo Albotra, chief of the PIB who led the operation, said they lured the suspects with P135,000 cash in exchange for the pistols.

Albotra said they actually ordered ten caliber .45 pistols from Pasaol but only nine were done because they were allegedly running out of time.

“Ila pa ming pasudlon sa ila so nibalibad mi. Amo giingnan nga dili na lang mi modayon mao to gihatod gyud nila,” Albotra said.

The firearms which were placed inside a backpack, were delivered by the suspects along the National Highway of Barangay Looc where they were apprehended.

Albotra said both were not only gun makers but also gun runners.

In an interview with Pasaol, he admitted that making firearms is the only means of living they could think of.

Pasaol, who has been doing the job for 27 years now, has been arrested five times already by different units but was able to post P80,000 bail.

Roca, who has also been making guns for 16 years, claimed that it was his first time to get caught. (FREEMAN)
