Banilad fire victims get aid from Coca-Cola

CEBU, Philippines - Softdrink giant, Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines Inc.-Cebu Plant conducted relief assistance to more than 100 families who were affected by the fire in Barangay Banilad, Mandaue City.

Eleodora Frias of Coca-Cola-Cebu Human Resource Department said they gave out blankets, bottled water, softdrinks, among others to more than 400 individuals who were victims of last month’s fire.

Aside from the fire victims, it also conducted feeding program among the affected residents.

The fire that occurred in a highly-congested area in the said barangay has reduced 40 shanties into ashes. Estimated damaged was P1.2 million.

Meanwhile, Cebu sixth district Representative Gabriel Luis “Luigi” Quisumbing also gave various kinds of medicines and multi-vitamins to more than 100 senior citizens in the city as part of his Senior Citizen’s Wellness Program at Norkis Park in Barangay Looc.

Quisumbing said the rights of every senior citizen to privileges such as fare discounts and others has to be implemented strictly and fully as a way of recognizing their contribution to nation building.

The neophyte congressman added he will continue to fight for the rights of senior citizens by passing a measures that would be beneficial for them. —(FREEMAN)
