Cooperative to build "wing" at VSMMC

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu CFI Community Cooperative will construct a CFI Wing at Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) complex to accommodate its members who are hospitalized.

Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia witnessed yesterday the signing of a memorandum of agreement between her mother, retired judge Esperanza Garcia, chairman of the board of the cooperative, and Dr. Gerardo Aquino, Jr., chief of VSMMC.

With 10 private rooms, the CFI Wing will annex to the main building of VSMMC. Construction will start on June 30.

The CFI has yet to come up with the amount of the project as it still awaits recommendation from the Department of Health.

Non-member patients may use the facility provided that the hospital is full.

The CFI will pay all hospital bills and professional fees incurred by its patients but other medical assistance such as PhilHealth and congressional assistance still applies.

As the biggest cooperative in the Visayas, CFI envisions to provide quality medical and hospital services to its growing membership. (FREEMAN)
