Shooting kills 1, injures 2 in Carcar

CEBU, Philippines - A 49-year-old resident of Barangay Liboron, Carcar was shot dead by two of his nephews because of alleged land dispute. Two other people including a 10-year-old boy were also injured during the incident after they were hit by stray bullets.

Felizardo Limasac was declared dead on arrival at the Carcar District Hospital while Johnrel Bargamento,10, remains in critical condition. Bargamento’s father, Jerwin, 31, also sustained gunshot wound but is now out of danger.

Felizardo and his wife Ponciana were in a shanty at sitio Upper Magsipit, Liboron, Carcar City Sunday evening when the suspects Alfredo Limasac, Jr. and his brother Jerry fired upon them.

Johnrel and his father were in adjacent videoke house when the shooting happened. Senior Police Officer 1 Reynaldo Fuentes said one of the suspects was arrested yesterday during a hot pursuit operation.

Alfredo was caught by police operatives in sitio Tagaytay, Barangay Canasuhan. Initial investigation shows that the suspects are harboring ill-feelings towards their uncle because of land dispute.  (FREEMAN)
