CEBU, Philippines - Four alleged members of a fraternity were arrested yesterday morning for their alleged involvement in a string of robberies in barangay Labogon, Mandaue City.

Arrested were Richard dela Peña, 20, Brian Montecalvo, 21, Robert Almogiel, 19, and a 15-year-old minor were arrested in a follow-up operation conducted by the Intelligence section and the SWAT of the Mandaue City Police Office.

SPO4 Ariston Bataluna Jr. said the suspects were arrested following complaints filed at the barangay Labogon hall by people who had alleged that the group robbed them of their money and cellular phones yesterday.

Bataluna said before the robbery, the suspects attempted to steal a tire rim from a shipyard in Labogon.

But a security guard caught them in the act and chased them. They left without taking the tire trim.

Away from the shipyard, the group held up at gunpoint Ryan Torres, 21, of Dumaguete City, an apprentice at Unilink Shipping Company in Labogon, taking his phone and P5,000.

A few minutes after, the group robbed Cesar Baga Jr., 22, a pier worker, of his cellphone and P3,000.

Baga told his superior about the incident. His superior then called a policeman assigned at the MCPO who advised him to report the incident to the barangay hall.

The police arrived at the barangay hall and told the victim to ride in their mobile car as they began looking for the suspects, a few minutes later, the juvenile was spotted and picked up.

He told the police where his companions were.

The police saw dela Peña and Almogiel drinking along the roadside.
