2 men arrested for stealing cellphones

CEBU, Philippines - Two men were placed under arrest after witnesses pointed to them as the ones responsible of breaking into a store along Colon Street and stealing 34 assorted units of mobile phones evening last Thursday.

Arrested were Romeo Sayaw, 33, of Alaska, barangay Mambaling and Marlon Sablas, 31, of Osmeña Boulevard.

Catherine Mancho and Julie Bella, employees of HZQ Marketing, said the robbery happened last Wednesday night. The 34 assorted units of cellular phones were reportedly worth P46,000.

They said they realized that the items have been stolen only at 10am the next day when they arrived at the store. They found out that the roll up door was damaged and the items inside already missing.

Policemen from the Carbon Police Station led by Sr. Insp. Renero Agustin immediately conducted a hot pursuit operation, which led to the arrest of the suspects. Witnesses reportedly pointed to them as the robbers.

Five of the stolen units of cellular phones were already recovered from them.
