Overseas registration for 2010 polls intensified

CEBU, Philippines – With barely two months until deadline, the Department of Foreign Affairs will be intensifying the Overseas Absentee Voting registration activities in all Foreign Service Posts.

The DFA OAV secretariat has directed all FSP’s to hold mobile or field registrations in distant areas in their respective jurisdictions. Filipino organizations and communities worldwide are also encouraged to register for next year’s polls.

Mobile registrations will be held in Doha, Qatar on July 24 to 31; Jedda, Khamis Mushayt on July 23-24; and the Al-Hekma International School in Bahrain on July 31.

The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh, KSA is conducting mobile registration at the International School in Al-Khobar from July 13 until the last day of the registration period.

In the United States of America, mobile registrations will be conducted in Chandler, Arizona on July 17 to 19; Houston, Texas on July 30 to August 3; San Diego, California on August 1; Albuquerque, New Mexico on August 7 to 9; Dallas, Texas on August 13 to 17; and in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 21 to 23.

Philippine Consulates in Chicago, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin will also be conducting mobile registrations until next month.

In Hong Kong, Filipinos may register at the Consulate, Lik Shang Plaza, Kowloon Filipino Baptist Church, Diocesan Pastoral Center for Filipinos, St. Josephs Church, Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, St. Benedict Church, and St. Thomas Diocesan Pastoral Center for Filipinos.

In Taiwan, mobile registrations will be held at the Top Polly Chu-Nan Dormitory on July 21 and 24 and at the King yuan Electronics Co., Ltd. on July 28.

The Consulate in Osaka, Japan will likewise conduct a registration activity in Fukuyama City on August 16. — Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
