Station chief in hot water

Cebu - The chief of the Carbon Police Station Sr. Insp. Pablo Cabildo will be investigated for allegedly committing lapses in handling the case involving the son of a mayor from Negros.

Acting Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama has also ordered the director of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) Sr. Supt. Patrocinio Comendador to furnish his office a copy of Cabildo’s explanation.

This stemmed from the arrest of Edu Villanueva, son of Bais City Mayor Hector Villanueva last weekend.

The younger Villanueva was arrested after the management of La Fortuna Hotel located along Borromeo St. complained that he destroyed property of the establishment.

“I don’t want this to happen in Cebu City. No one is above the law,” Rama said.

Comendador summoned Cabildo yesterday to ask him about the incident.

Cabildo reportedly allowed Villanueva to go out of the Carbon Police stockade to eat lunch. The detainee was then escorted by PO1 Dequiam Sardoncillo, a member of the Bais Police alert team.

The two reportedly did not immediately return to the cell after lunch, but came back hours later and Villanueva was eventually released when the hotel management said it was not pursuing the filing of charges since they will be paid.

Comendador said that the Cebu City Intelligence Detection and Management Branch (CIDMB) headed by Sr. Insp. George Ylanan will be doing the investigation.

“I ordered him not to give him (Villanueva) special treatment. Everybody should be treated equal,” Comendador said.

Cabildo said earlier he is ready to face investigation that may be ordered by the CCPO chief.
