CEBU - Charges for estafa and illegal recruitment were filed against a woman, who reportedly gypped a man of an estimated P321,030 in cash as payment for employment in Canada.
Pink Floyd Alforque of Tulay, Minglanilla has filed the charges against Stella Marie de Gracia of Naga, who promised him a caregiving job in Canada last 2006.
Alforque claimed he gave de Gracia P321,030 in cash as placement and processing fee for deployment to Canada as a live-in caregiver with a salary of $10 per hour.
Alforque said that de Gracia promised him the job as her husband is working in Canada with the same job.
He said that the accused claimed that she could send him to the place within six months, but the said promise has not yet been realized after two years.
When Alforque tried to get back his money, de Gracia could not give it back, which is why he decided to file charges.
De Gracia has been asked to submit a counter affidavit, but has not been able to do so.
It was also found out that de Gracia is not a licensed recruiter by the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency.
Meanwhile, another woman from Lipata, Minglanilla town has filed charges for estafa and alleged illegal recruitment at the Office of the City Prosecutor against a man, who claimed to be a representative of a recruitment agency based in Manila and promised her a teaching job in the United States.
Marjorie Rosales filed the said charges against Isidro Rodriguez, who reportedly claimed to be working for Great Provider Services Exporters, Inc., a Manila-based recruitment agency.
Rodriguez allegedly promised her a teaching stint in the US since August of last year.
Rosales also filed a complaint against Great Provider Services Exporters for its failure to send her abroad. — Jasmin R. Uy/NLQ (THE FREEMAN)
